My mother-in-law passed away a few years ago in my own home. She came to live with me when she started getting lost driving her car. I promised her that I wouldn’t place her in a nursing home and she promised to give up driving and move in with my wife and I. As a retired teacher, she was extremely helpful with our children, waiting for them at the bus stop in the afternoon and helping them complete their homework before dinner. We would sit together for hours talking about family long gone and reminding our children where they came from. When she died peacefully in her sleep, I was pleased to know that my family and I had made the last years of our loved ones life as safe, pleasant and comfortable as possible.

I would like to share my experience with Griswold Home Care here in Vineland, New Jersey. I live in North Carolina and my mother’s care is very important to me. Some things have become a little difficult for her and I wanted her to have some help in caring for herself and her home. I was pleasantly surprised to find a home health care agency right here in Vineland. Beth, my mother’s caseworker was excellent. Very supportive and kept in constant contact with my mother to make sure her care was up to the standard that Griswold expects. That was not a problem as our home health care provided was an angel. On time, honest, and hard working. Plus, she always puts my mother’s safety first. I have met Arlene numerous times and find her to be one of the most caring people I have ever met. Griswold is flexible and will met the ever changing needs of their clients. Recently my mother was in the hospital and to my surprise both Beth and Arlene came by to check on her. Now that is going the extra mile. I highly recommend Griswold Home Care for any and all of your home health care needs. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

New Jersey is one of the states at the forefront of providing assistance to elderly persons that are not eligible for Medicaid. There are five programs of great relevance to seniors: JACC, Statewide Respite Care, Alzheimer's Adult Day Care, the Senior Gold and PAAD programs, and Congregate Housing Services. Although not all of these programs provide financial assistance, they may offer services that can enable a senior and their family to save money in other areas, thereby allowing more of their resources to be put toward the cost of care.
Our responsible, experienced CAREGivers are members of the local community, familiar with the resources available in your area of New Jersey. Home Instead Senior Care services are available 24/7, every day of the year, including holidays, and are delivered by trusted CAREGivers who are screened, bonded and insured employees—never independent contractors.

If you’ve always dreamed of retiring somewhere with both mountains and beaches, and not too far out from New York City, then New Jersey is a great state to consider. The state offers a plethora of open spaces, and the mountains there are popular destinations for people to ski, bike, birdwatch, fish, camp, and more all year round. New Jersey has four distinct seasons, so residents can enjoy the gradual cool down when summer transitions into fall, and some snowfall in the winter.

"Last year, I was looking for assistance for my mom, who suffers from dementia. In an effort to keep my mom's mind stimulated and her body active, I had been researching senior caregiving resources online. My interest was to find a local woman who would understand my mom's situation and act as a companion to her in my absence. Thankfully, upon locating the site, www.synergyhomecare.com, I called and spoke with Rona Fitzgerald, Senior Care Manager and Casey Holstein, the Owner of the company. After hearing how they provide top quality eldercare and Alzheimer's Disease assistance, I was reassured that SYNERGY would be able to fill the void in my mom's life, without tying my family up in a long-term caregiver contract. The company specializes in providing a friendly, helping hand around the house, from basic housekeeping and companionship to personal or memory care services and each of their caregivers is subject to an extensive screening process. Once we were paired with a successful match for my mom, I met with both Rona and the caregiver, Filomena Mora at my mom's house in Roseland in Nov. 2009. Filomena was equipped with a long list of positive references and has turned out to be an incredible asset to my mom. She is friendly, conscientious and has great passion for her work. I feel blessed that we managed to secure someone who has a warm heart and a gentle hand, as my mother trusts her and it means the world to me and my family. If you are struggling to find quality caregivers, I recommend that you give the SYNERGY team a call as they have always been trustworthy and reliable and responsive to our needs."

Hello, I am Ted Dzvileski, owner and operator of your local Griswold Home Care office of Somerset County, NJ. I joined the Griswold Home Care franchise family in 2002 because I saw an increased need for private care services both nationwide and in my community. As our nation’s elderly population continues to grow, and families are busier than ever, more people are in need of extra support as they age.

Individuals enrolled in Medicaid’s Personal Preference Program (PPP) are able to self-direct their own care. This is a “Cash and Counseling” program in which the recipients are provided with a cash allowance and the flexibility to spend it as they see fit for their care requirements. Common ways funds are spent are for personal care assistance, assistive technology, and home modifications. It should be noted that a fair amount of counseling is also provided to ensure needs are being met. With this option, individuals are able to hire the care provider of their choosing, including family members.
