Amada Senior Care Northern New Jersey operator  Gerri Dasappan is uniquely qualified to provide the highest quality of senior care, as she is both a registered nurse and someone who has personally benefited from in-home care. When Gerri’s father was in the final days of his fight with cancer, the support and assistance provided by caregivers in their home allowed her family simply to focus on spending time with him. She says, “Having the right home-care people come in and help my mother with my dad was a big help for all of us. It gave us peace of mind. And this is the kind of care that I want to provide for all of our clients.”
Medicaid is an insurance program designed for low-income individuals and families. A distinction should be made between regular Medicaid (sometimes called State Plan) and Institutional Medicaid (also called Long Term Care Medicaid). Long Term Care Medicaid is more relevant to the elderly and this webpage. Upon creation, Long Term Care Medicaid was intended to pay for nursing home care, and limited personal care, for individuals who required it, but could not afford it. Over time, programs were added that allowed those who were eligible for nursing home care to receive that level of care outside of nursing homes. These programs are referred to as Medicaid Waivers, and in New Jersey, these programs fall under a Comprehensive Medicaid Waiver. Please note, in New Jersey, Medicaid for the elderly is also called FamilyCare Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD) Programs.

Medicare is a type of health insurance for senior citizens over the age of 65 who have worked (or whose spouses have worked) for more than 10 years. There are two types of Medicare. Medicare A is available at no cost and covers things like home health care, nursing home care, inpatient hospital care, and hospice. Medicare B is available for a premium (which depends on your income) and covers preventative care, medically necessary care, mental health services, ambulance services, and durable medical equipment. There is also Medicare D, which covers prescriptions.
New Jersey senior home care fills a need that arises when older adults are not able to take care of themselves, but are not interested in leaving their homes to live in any type of care facility. In-home care brings the expertise and compassion of trained health professionals to the bedside of the person who needs extra care. Senior home care workers can administer medicines, change dressings, and help with personal care procedures like dressing and bathing. Home elder care seems like a new concept, but hearkens back to the good old days when doctors made house calls. Home health care is driven partly by cost concerns, as it combines many services into one visit.

I'm a certified home health aide with 20 years of experience, caring for the elderly. In this field, I have worked with seniors of different cultures, traditions, and ethnic backgrounds. I am compassionate, attentive, and caring. I would love to help with meals and house cleaning, errands and appointments. I have my own car and a good driving record. I am trustworthy, reliable, attentive, and helpful. I am also a great companion. I love the seniors because I was raised by my grandmother who taught me to be very mindful of the elderly and respect them. The way I want to be remembered in life is to make a difference in the life of others but especially for those who helped us to get where we are today-seniors. I don't smoke or drink. My current references are available upon request. Thank you

My name is Stephan Rymal and I have been the Director of the Burlington County Office of Griswold Home Care since 1997. My Burlington County roots date back to my youth, when I visited my uncles’ farms on Route 70 past Olga’s Diner and the Route 73 circle. I still remember swimming in the cedar ponds in the summer and ice skating on them in the winter. My cousins and I would walk through the fields eating fresh Jersey tomatoes with their sweet juices dripping down our faces during the day and steam Jersey corn in their husks on the grill for dinner.

After Mom and Dad retired, they stayed so busy. When they weren't traveling, they were playing cards with friends, dining out with the neighbors, volunteering for some community group or church project. When Dad's health took a turn, Mom was determined to stay in the house, taking care of him herself, day and night, for over two years before he died. Now that he's gone, we've noticed she's not getting out much and I don't think she ever has a decent meal. She's too independent to come and live with Sis or me, and we just live too far away to help as much as we'd like to.
