Even adult day care in New Jersey well exceeds the national average, which as of 2018, is $71 / day. In fact, it does so by approximately 20%, costing approximately $88 / day. Although even at that cost, adult day care is still one of the most affordable ways to care for the elderly. Surprisingly, the areas that have the most expensive assisted living have some of the most economic averages for adult day care (Trenton and North Jersey). Here, the average daily cost is $83. The most costly adult day care can be found in Ocean City and the Vineyard area, where the average cost is between $94 and $100 / day.

My name is Stephan Rymal and I have been the Director of the Burlington County Office of Griswold Home Care since 1997. My Burlington County roots date back to my youth, when I visited my uncles’ farms on Route 70 past Olga’s Diner and the Route 73 circle. I still remember swimming in the cedar ponds in the summer and ice skating on them in the winter. My cousins and I would walk through the fields eating fresh Jersey tomatoes with their sweet juices dripping down our faces during the day and steam Jersey corn in their husks on the grill for dinner.
New Jersey ranks as one of the more expensive states in the nation as far as the cost of assisted living. As of 2018, the national average is $3,670 / month, but in NJ, residents pay over $1,420 / month more, with the average cost being $5,070. However, state residents should take some comfort in the fact that the cost is not consistently high everywhere in the state. The less expensive areas include Ocean City, in and around Atlantic City, and Vineland-Millville-Bridgeton. In these areas the average cost is closer to $4,270 / month. Residents in the most expensive areas should be aware that they live in these areas, so that they might consider neighboring counties as a cost-saving measure. The Trenton area and almost all of Northern New Jersey has monthly cost averaging between $5,370 and $6,170. Caring for individuals with Alzheimer's can further increase the monthly cost of assisted living by as much as $1,270 / month.
Even if your elderly loved one insists on remaining at home, doing so may not be in their best interests. A parent or elderly loved one in failing or deteriorating health is not the only one in jeopardy; family members managing care may also be under a lot of stress and typically find out they’ve bitten off more than they can chew when it comes to taking care of a relative while trying to have and maintain their own life.
As a family owned and operated business, we’ll treat your loved ones like our own. That means you can always expect compassionate care and clear, consistent communication. Thanks to our strong, partnering relationships with regional care facilities and specialized physicians, we can personalize a menu of services for every client. Then we can adapt these services as needs evolve. Also, we are extremely flexible, and we provide cost effective options. Our care is as temporary or long-term as you’d like it to be. We’re available 24-hours a day, and 7 days a week.
Navigating seemingly endless phone menus and waiting through long hold times can be especially frustrating for our clients when all they want to do is secure benefits to help with senior care. We make use of our extensive network of contacts with LTCi carriers and administrators to directly advocate for our clients over the phone, saving them time and sparing them headaches.
At Griswold Home Care of Cumberland County, we knew that there was a huge under-served senior population in the local community. It has been our mission to meet the elder care demands so that seniors could continue to remain where they are most content, surrounded by cherished memories that they’ve made at home. Our team feels a huge sense of fulfillment when we are able to help a neighbor, friend or friend of a friend establish the care that they desperately need in the place that they are most comfortable.
