Assisted Living communities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living (also known as ADLs).  These facilities aid in coordination of services by health care providers; and monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety and well-being.  The type of services and level of care will vary, however most communities provide assistance with meals, dressing...

Our favorite experiences have come from pulling into the driveway of the pretty farmhouse or stylish city home that we’ve admired hundreds of times and knowing that we will help to care for the client who has established a life inside. These homes birthed the memories that shaped our community.  We feel honored when invited inside to arrange care for a member of the household. Greater than our admiration for their beautiful homes is our appreciation for the elderly and disabled members of our community’s need for home care. It is rewarding to know that we make a difference in the lives of our clients.

My mother-in-law passed away a few years ago in my own home. She came to live with me when she started getting lost driving her car. I promised her that I wouldn’t place her in a nursing home and she promised to give up driving and move in with my wife and I. As a retired teacher, she was extremely helpful with our children, waiting for them at the bus stop in the afternoon and helping them complete their homework before dinner. We would sit together for hours talking about family long gone and reminding our children where they came from. When she died peacefully in her sleep, I was pleased to know that my family and I had made the last years of our loved ones life as safe, pleasant and comfortable as possible.

For those requiring advanced medical care for the short or long term, full service nursing care is provided at all UMC full service communities. It is important to note that at United Methodist Communities we consider that quality of life is still important to our most frail residents, and individual attention must extend beyond the medical meet the dictates of our deeper philosophy, that of “Abundant Life”.
As we say in the Camden County office, home care has never been easier than with Griswold Home Care. However, our job wasn’t easy! Using tools such as the “CareAssure Screening System” and “QuickCare Placement” we were able to get the best caregivers to our clients even on short notice. We understood the stress and fears our clients faced when they were told they needed someone to help out with senior care or they couldn’t remain in their home.

When the war ended, Mom moved to New Hanover, where she worked at Fort Dix and finally agreed to a dinner date with a handsome airman on base—Dad. They bought a stylish rancher in the suburbs. Of course Dad thought she should stay home, cook and clean, but he didn't know the force he was reckoning with. She fought to keep her career, continuing to work part time, even after we girls came into the picture.
