When considering a senior living community, it is important that our clients and their loved ones honestly assess the level of care they will require. For individuals who anticipate the need for complex medical services, a nursing home may be the best place to help them stay safe and comfortable. However, some of our senior clients just want to simplify their lives and receive assistance with some basic activities of daily living, and for such individuals an assisted living community may be a better fit.
The state's recently created Medicaid Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS), a managed care system, falls under the Comprehensive Medicaid Waiver. Under this system, there are no enrollment caps, meaning anyone who is eligible to receive services can do so. Via this program, supports for a variety of services are provided in the home, assisted living, an adult foster care home, or in adult day care. Benefits include home / vehicle modifications, meal delivery, personal emergency response systems, and personal assistance. Program participants are able to self-direct certain home-based supportive care, such as personal assistance and homemaker services. This means they are able to hire the individual of their liking, including some family members. The Global Options or GO Waiver was absorbed into this waiver in 2014.

All of the counties in New Jersey offer nutrition programs to residents over the age of 60. They vary in their approaches and depend on the specific needs of their clients. All of these programs can be reached through the local Aging & Disability Resource Connection/Area Agency on Aging (ADRC/AAA). (Click on the link and scroll down to find the appropriate county.) The telephone number is (877) 222-3737.
The Department of Human Services (DHS) is designated by the U.S. Administration for Community Living as New Jersey’s State Unit Aging (SUA), with DoAS serving as the administrative agency. DoAS provides oversight of the home and community-based programs provided by or through New Jersey’s 21 county offices on aging known as the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA)/Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC).
Other common services include companion and personal care. Companion care helps combat feelings of loneliness and isolation and assists your elderly loved one with simple tasks of living, such as housekeeping, meal preparation, and transportation. Personal care, on the other hand, offers more sensitive care items related to hygiene such as bathing and using the restroom.

I grew my business to function in the same high caliber fashion that I first observed and admired in Griswold Home Care. I work hard to support my community as both a home care provider and an expert in the elder care industry. I am active in my church and serve as a knowledgeable resource to various church volunteer programs and township social service programs.
There are three types of adult day care in New Jersey. Those who don’t have any special medical needs can go to social adult day care. People with health conditions that need to be attended to during the day can go to adult day health services. Finally, those with Alzheimer’s disease can go to an Alzheimer’s adult day care service, which is subsidized and available for a sliding scale fee.

Focusing on the solid foundation of Griswold Home Care founder Jean Griswold’s vision, providing the best home caregivers to seniors and families at affordable rates, the office has grown to one of the company’s top performers. In 2001, our operations manager, Kathy Mason, came on board. Her compassion, empathy and love of the senior care community played a key role in the overall success of the office.
Hello, I am Ted Dzvileski, owner and operator of your local Griswold Home Care office of Somerset County, NJ. I joined the Griswold Home Care franchise family in 2002 because I saw an increased need for private care services both nationwide and in my community. As our nation’s elderly population continues to grow, and families are busier than ever, more people are in need of extra support as they age.

I would like to share my experience with Griswold Home Care here in Vineland, New Jersey. I live in North Carolina and my mother’s care is very important to me. Some things have become a little difficult for her and I wanted her to have some help in caring for herself and her home. I was pleasantly surprised to find a home health care agency right here in Vineland. Beth, my mother’s caseworker was excellent. Very supportive and kept in constant contact with my mother to make sure her care was up to the standard that Griswold expects. That was not a problem as our home health care provided was an angel. On time, honest, and hard working. Plus, she always puts my mother’s safety first. I have met Arlene numerous times and find her to be one of the most caring people I have ever met. Griswold is flexible and will met the ever changing needs of their clients. Recently my mother was in the hospital and to my surprise both Beth and Arlene came by to check on her. Now that is going the extra mile. I highly recommend Griswold Home Care for any and all of your home health care needs. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

After Mom and Dad retired, they stayed so busy. When they weren't traveling, they were playing cards with friends, dining out with the neighbors, volunteering for some community group or church project. When Dad's health took a turn, Mom was determined to stay in the house, taking care of him herself, day and night, for over two years before he died. Now that he's gone, we've noticed she's not getting out much and I don't think she ever has a decent meal. She's too independent to come and live with Sis or me, and we just live too far away to help as much as we'd like to.
